Job Background/Context:
This M and A Analyst, will research potential acquisition and divestiture targets, prepare financial analyses and models, produce reports and updates for executives and regulators, and participate in the preparation of marketing materials and approval documents for senior management and the Board of Directors. They will work on live transactions, supporting the deal teams in project management, due diligence and financial modeling, as well as exploratory research which may be in support of senior M and A professionals or independently.
This person will use Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint extensively to build complex financial models and presentations, including building financial projections, calculating purchase accounting adjustments, determining the impact of transactions to Citi’s capital ratios and geographically describing M and A opportunities to senior management.
Key Responsibilities:
Gain sound understanding of the M and A process within Citigroup as well as the different types of M and A transactions
Contribute to discussions with internal M and A professionals and business teams
Create ‘Overview’ presentations, highlighting deal benefits and risks, including full analysis of the target country profile, financial service sector profiles, economic growth prospects, product synergies, human resource implications etc.
Assist in building of financial projections to determine key financial metrics
Participate in due diligence exercises as appropriate
Work with M and A functional representatives, and other business teams (Citicorp and Holdings) as appropriate
Develop knowledge of the Citigroup’s business units, related products, and geographies
Develop ability to formulate and present transaction recommendations to Citigroup senior management and M and A Group team members

Qualifications
Knowledge/Experience:
The ideal candidate will possess very strong analytical and modeling skills, as well as a solid understanding of finance and accounting concepts. Communication and interpersonal skills are also important, to the extent that the analyst will participate in negotiations, lead conference calls and coordinate project management activities with business representatives throughout Citi.
