Description Our Investment Bank’s Corporate Client Solutions (CCS) business provides coverage, advisory, capital markets and financing solutions for corporate, financial institutions and sponsor clients.
Coverage and Advisory
Our Coverage and Advisory team (formerly the Investment Banking Department) provides merger and acquisition advice and execution for our clients, refinancings, spin-offs and other advisory services. Our Capital Markets Solutions team handles equity-capital raising, derivative products, risk management solutions, IPOs and debt-capital raising including investment grade and emerging market and high-yield bonds.
As a graduate on the CCS Coverage & Advisory team, you will be part of a business that provides integrated solutions in advisory, equity, debt and leveraged capital markets and financing. You will have the opportunity to be involved in and contribute to providing M&A advice and execution, refinancings, spinoffs, exchange offers, LBOs, JVs, takeover defense and other advisory services.
Debt Capital Markets
As an analyst/intern on the CCS Debt Capital Markets (DCM) team, you will be part of a business that provides integrated solutions. You will develop your expertise in debt-capital markets including investment grade and emerging market bonds, subordinated debt, hybrid capital and preferred stock as well as related fixed income and cross currency derivative products.
Equity Capital Markets
Equity Capital Markets (ECM) bridges the gap between an investment banking role and a sales/trading position by combining the analytical and quantitative nature of a banking role with the fast-paced and demanding environment of the trading floor. ECM includes public equity origination (initial public offerings, follow-on offerings and block trades), equity syndication, convertible product origination and execution, equity derivatives, equity private placements and corporate share repurchases.
As an analyst/intern in ECM you will work with corporate clients to identify their individual funding needs and determine the appropriate offering structure and execution strategy to maximize the issuer’s objectives across many different criteria including: equity valuation, market risk appetite, accretion/dilution, ratings/equity credit, use of proceeds, flexibility, size, and capitalization. You will develop your expertise in equity-capital raising, related derivative products and risk management solutions.
Your Training Program We know that development opportunities are important to you and we want to make sure you you’ll be successful. That’s why our graduate training program is designed to ensure that you’ll have an in-depth introduction to our firm and the business you will be part of. You’ll start your UBS experience by participating in UBS Discovery, a training program that will bring you up to speed on our industry, strategy, capabilities and culture.
As you move into your target business you’ll benefit from both business-specific and firm-wide on- and off-the-job training that will ensure you are a confident and competent contributor from day one.
Each business has its own program that varies in duration, scope and location, but they all share a similar approach that breaks down complex information into manageable elements. The teaching methods and environment encourage you to get to know your peers. In some areas, an extended induction period provides further team building and networking opportunities. You keep on learning once you join your team. You may be rotated through a number of desks and departments to broaden your product knowledge and extend your network of contacts. In some departments, regular lectures and presentation events allow for the sharing of knowledge as well as promoting team spirit. Ongoing training and development encourages your career progress. Customized programs build your core competencies and enhance your skills.
In CCS, you’ll also benefit from curriculum training that will prepare you for your analyst role so that when you hit your desk you’ll be up to speed on accounting, valuation and modeling. Once on the job, your training will continue through targeted business-specific as well as professional skills training. You’ll also create networks with graduates from across the firm through networking sessions designed to increase your knowledge and expand your contacts.

UBS is a Swiss bank founded about 200 years ago in Basel and Zurich, Switzerland. The bank is still officially headquartered in Switzerland, however the investment banking operations are largely run from London (based in the City near Liverpool Street), New York and other financial centers. UBS is considered to be part of the Bulge Bracket investment banks, and is split is 4 big divisions: UBS Investment Bank (including M&A and Sales and Trading), Global Asset Management (UBS is the 2nd largest asset manager in the world), Wealth Management, and UBS Swiss Bank, which is the retail banking part of the bank. Because the UBS is a Swiss bank with a strong wealth management business, UBS grew by acquiring other financial institutions especially in the US, including the asset manager Paine Webber in November 2000, and investment banks Kidder Peabody, SG Warburg and Dillon, Read in 1995. UBS only really came to prominence when John Costas (a former bond trader at Credit Suisse) became CEO in 1998 and also when Ken Moelis (an investment banker that has now set up his own boutique called Moelis) started to build up the M&A franchise.
