Financial Institutions Group – UK – Investment Banking
J.P. Morgan’s UK Financial Institutions Group is part of J.P. Morgan Cazenove, J.P. Morgan’s Investment Banking arm in the UK. The team is responsible for the origination and execution of public and private M&A and Capital Markets transactions involving financial services clients in the UK.
We maintain leading relationships with some of the most prominent clients in the UK financial services industry and aid them, through M&A and capital markets transactions, in delivering on their corporate strategy and structure. Often, members of the deal team interact on a daily basis with the client’s CEO and CFO.
We are the leading Corporate Broking franchise in the UK with a leading position in financial services clients.
Position Summary
This is an opportunity for an Analyst and an Associate to join the J.P. Morgan Cazenove UK Financial Institutions Group focusing on financial services clients in the UK.
The position includes
Origination and execution of mergers, acquisitions, divestitures and capital markets transactions across banking, insurance, asset management and specialty finance clients based within the UK in cooperation with other areas of the bank, including UK M&A, ECM and DCM groups
Client coverage of J.P. Morgan Cazenove’s UK financial services Corporate Broking clients
Key Responsibilities
Analyst
Building and using complex financial models, completing valuation and analytical exercises
Support the preparation of presentation books, management presentations, Board materials, Memorandums, and other presentation materials for use in M&A and capital markets transactions or strategic client dialogue
Transaction execution: support due diligence, document preparation, negotiation etc and liaising with relevant counterpart at the client/other advisers (accounting, legal, etc)
Corporate broking: market updates, support of financial market disclosure, UKLA sponsor services
Keeping abreast of key market developments and establishing knowledge of the target client base and relevant market dynamics
Work with J.P. Morgan product teams
Associate
Completion of large and complex valuation and analytical exercises
Support and coordinate the preparation of presentation books, management presentations, Board materials, Memorandums, and other presentation materials for use in M&A and capital markets transactions or strategic client dialogue
Transaction execution: day to day project management, support due diligence, document preparation, negotiation etc and liaising with relevant counterpart at the client/other advisers (accounting, legal, etc)
Corporate broking: market updates, support of financial market disclosure, UKLA sponsor services
Keeping abreast of key market developments and establishing knowledge of the target client base and relevant market dynamics
Supervision of more junior colleagues on specific projects or tasks as well as training, coaching and mentoring of junior colleagues
Work with J.P. Morgan product teams
Qualifications
The work is fast-paced, demanding and intellectually stimulating. We look for candidates with the following:
Outstanding financial analysis and modelling skills
Experience of the financial services industry is preferable
Experience of UK Corporate Broking and M&A is preferable
Solid communication and project management skills
In-depth understanding of investment banking products is preferable (can be enhanced and further built via training)
Experience in dealing with clients and other transactional advisers is preferable (can be enhanced and further built via training)
Strong team player
Perfectly fluent in English
Proficient in MS office applications, knowledge of Bloomberg preferred
