Job Description:
We are seeking a junior research analyst to join our investment research team in London. Research analysts assist the senior investment professionals with research related to hedge fund investments. The analyst will have the opportunity to gain a deep understanding of the various hedge fund strategies practiced by managers globally, and will develop both the subjective and objective skills necessary to assess the attractiveness of hedge funds from an investor’s point of view.
A significant portion of the role will entail writing investment reports that detail the various qualitative and quantitative aspects of individual hedge fund managers’ strategies, in addition to more general research reports. Analysts are also expected to attend industry conferences, participate in due diligence meetings with senior investment professionals at hedge funds, and liaise with other third parties such as capital introduction groups at various investment banks. Over time, analysts will be expected to forge their own relationships and participate more actively in sourcing investment ideas and performing due diligence.
Requirements:
• Ideal candidates will have a demonstrable interest in capital markets that includes but is not limited to equity or credit research, asset management, investment banking or leveraged finance.
• Evidence of strong academic performance (Bachelors or Masters) in a numerate field is required (such as Mathematics, Engineering, Economics/Finance etc.).
• Strong writing and analytical skills are a must.
• The candidate should be self-motivated and possess a strong work ethic and superior time management skills.
• The candidate should have the ability to communicate and work effectively with colleagues based in offices around the world.
• Candidates should show an interest in obtaining further professional qualifications such as CFA and CAIA.
