This position is an opportunity for the right candidate to join a company focused on growth and building long-term value for our investors. This role is ideally suited to a motivated individual seeking a dynamic work environment as a member of the Brookfield Capital Partners team. Responsibilities include the identification, screening and recommendation of potential investment opportunities. Brookfield Capital Partners focuses on investing capital at deep value in industries with real assets including distressed opportunities.
We are seeking an Analyst to work with a small European team to identify, diligence and execute distressed and turnaround investments. Specific activities for the role include (i) screening for investment opportunities, (ii) performing complex financial analysis and valuations, (iii) performing due diligence on investment candidates and (iv) presenting investment, restructuring or disposition recommendations.
Responsibilities for this position include the following:
Conduct company and industry research / screening to support the development of investment strategies and to identify transaction opportunities
Help establish the investment thesis and identification of value creation strategies and assist in developing ideas for transaction structure
Perform comprehensive corporate finance, credit and valuation analysis, including details financial modeling
Plan and assist with the due diligence process
Prepare investment committee presentation material and other transaction documents
Assist in organization and co-ordination of large working groups to complete the execution of a transaction
Work in a flexible, dynamic, and team-oriented working culture that fosters collaboration and personal development
Conduct special projects, as required
Suggested experience:
Minimum of two (2) years of experience, preferably in private equity, investment banking, or accounting (restructuring and turnaround investing experience an asset)
Preference for candidates with an ACA, and/or CFA;
Experience in distressed situations and with a deep understanding of capital structure;
High level of proficiency in Excel and superior financial modeling skills;
Strong analytical skills and creative problem-solving ability;
Additional European languages an advantage;
Ability to multi-task and work in a very fast-paced environment with firm deadlines;
Strong and confident communication skills;
Meticulous attention to detail is essential; and
Self-motivated and proactive, both with respect to managing workload and own professional development.
