Position Title
Analyst
Role Summary
The company’s Metals & Mining Corporate Finance team is expanding and there is now a requirement to hire an Analyst to join the London office to support and participate in their advisory operations
The successful candidate will have experience of metals & mining advisory experience at a top-rated investment bank or boutique
The candidate will be reporting to the Global Head of Metals & Mining and will be involved in M&A execution work as well as the origination of new deals across the metals and mining space and across relevant geographies
Main responsibilities
Origination and execution of M&A transactions across the metals and mining sector
Researching potential targets, markets and sector trends
Preparing thorough strategic and financial analysis including the building of advanced valuation models both at the asset and company level
Participation in marketing efforts, including preparation of client presentations and pitches
Managing and working efficiently alongside other product teams
Managing client expectations throughout the deal process
Assisting with the running and controlling transactions on a day to day basis, managing information flow to and from clients
Attending client meetings with senior bankers
Must have the ability to work well in both team and individual settings and coordinate work products with global teams based in London, Asia, Australia and Canada
Scope of People Management (if any)
Will be required to train and manage interns
Technical Skills
Essential
Relevant mergers and acquisitions experience in Metals & Mining
Top financial modelling and analytical skills
Strong financial acumen and understanding
Highly proficient in all relevant valuation methodologies for metals and mining companies
Preferable
Experience of working on public Australian deals
Behavioural Skills
Essential
Highly motivated, self-driven who can operate in a fast pasted environment (multi-tasking)
Meticulous, detail oriented
Articulate, excellent communications skills, both written and oral (client facing position)
Team player who can also operate well in individual settings
Regulatory Skills
Will be required to be FCA-registered
Education/Professional Qualifications
Excellent academic record from a top rated University or equivalent
University graduate (Bachelor’s degree) is essential (minimum 2.1 or equivalent)
Master’s degree in Finance, Economics or other relevant fields would be looked upon favourably
Languages
English essential, both written and oral. Fluency in another language (in particular Mandarin, Russian and/ or Spanish) would be looked upon very favourably
