Founded in the 1930s, Charterhouse Capital Partners was the first development capital company in the UK and has provided equity capital to private companies spanning a broad range of industries throughout the UK and in Western Europe. Charterhouse was originally owned by Credit Commercial de France, which was acquired by HSBC. Charterhouse then spun out and became independent in 2001.

Investment Strategy

- Charterhouse has a strong market position in the UK and also seeks investments in companies in Western Europe

- The firm invests predominantly in unquoted companies

- Industry focus is very diverse but excludes real estate and industries susceptible to rapid technology change

- Charterhouse prefers investments where it will have a controlling stake

- Target Enterprise Value is in the EUR400m to EUR4.0bn range with a maximum equity underwriting of EUR EUR1.0bn
