Responsibilities:
Associates help win new client business and work directly with our clients in evaluating, structuring and recommending financial and strategic opportunities. Associates typically work on a wide variety of transactions for global corporations and government institutions including mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, asset sales, restructurings and divestitures.
In addition, Associates can obtain considerable exposure across the firm, working on transactions alongside professionals in the Corporate Private Equity group, the Real Estate group, and the Alternative Asset Management group.
Associates are highly involved in all aspects of a transaction, including day to day relationship with the client and other advisors, due diligence, valuation analysis, and the negotiating of contracts and other agreements. The flat structure of this group offers professionals the unique opportunity to work closely with senior members of the Firm, many of whom were previously group heads at leading investment banking firms. Associates also take an active role in the mentoring and development of Analysts.
Qualifications:
Blackstone seeks to hire individuals who are highly motivated, intelligent and have demonstrated excellence in prior endeavours. Candidate should also have:
Strong analytical and quantitative skills
Excellent communication and leadership skills
A demonstrated ability to write effectively
A strong background in finance/accounting is essential
M&A or Restructuring background is required
Prior experience in distressed credit and equities valuation is required
Experience in special situations is required
Excellent financial modelling and excel skills
A degree in Finance and International Business is required
Excellent report writing skills, including advanced Word and PowerPoint skills
Ability to learn quickly and work independently
High motivation and attention to detail
A desire to work in a team environment

Investment Strategy
Blackstone pursues non-hostile investments in a diverse range of sectors, primarily in North America and Western Europe.
It has a value-oriented, conservative investment approach which leads it to use “prudent” leverage and focus on companies with leading market shares in stable industries
It is willing to examine complex transactions and performs rigourous due diligence including externsive macroeconomic research and industrial analysis
Other investmetn premises include add-on acquisitions, proprietary deal flow, corporate partnerships and creative exit mechanisms
Target investment size between $250m and $1.25bn
