Investment Manager (Debt), Octopus Investments

Position Overview
We are looking to hire an experienced Investment Manager into the team to concentrate predominantly on debt-related investments. In this particular role there will be a specific focus on generating specialist lending opportunities (for example, lending to consumer finance providers) although there will be involvement as required in other areas of origination.

• Source debt investment opportunities
• Manage diligence, negotiation and completion of investment opportunities, including presentation to Investment Committee
• Establish and maintain investment reporting for Octopus and Specialist Finance
• Ongoing management and operational involvement in completed investments
• Develop and maintain strong network of external relationships to generate deal flow
• Research and create investment areas and obtain HMRC approval as required
• Establish and maintain investment controls for structured tax investments
• Keeping abreast of tax legislation and change thereto to the extent that they affect or may affect structured tax products and investments
• Assist with the strategic management of the funds invested in the Octopus Inheritance Tax Service (managing investment decisions, monitoring performance, liaising with non-executive directors, helping form and communicate strategy)

Our Specialist Finance function is fundamental to the success of our business and, as such, we are looking for truly exceptional candidates to work in this role. The skills and expertise we need are as follows:

• An exceptional academic track record – has ideally completed an MBA
• Experience in the origination and execution of debt investments
• Extensive knowledge of consumer credit and corporate leveraged credit
• Solid sales and client management skills particularly with UK based SME’s
• Experience of restructuring transactions would be useful
• Excellent analytical skills in assessing and interrogating investment opportunities
• Exceptional academic and technical background
• A passion for providing innovative investment solutions to consumers
• Knowledge of structured investment products
• Excellent understanding of Risk management
• A strong team player with the confidence to implement change and liaise with external counterparties at all levels of seniority
